It is reported that EU will impose anti-dumping duties on electrical steel imports next month.
The Commission targets to impose tariffs 21.6% for Russian imports and 35.9% for Japanese imports of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES). Duties applied to China imports will be 28.7%, duties to the US would be 22% and to South Korea will be 22.8%. The duties would normally last for five years.
The mass imports have damaged EU industry by pushing prices down to below the costs of production, causing substantial losses.
